Edge Banding Process Determines Crack Resistance

Different edge banding technologies have significantly different durability:

EVA Edge Banding (Hot Melt Adhesive Edge Banding)

Cracking Time: 1–2 years, shorter in high temperature or humid environments

Reasons: Poor temperature resistance of the adhesive (only 70℃), easily softens and delaminates when heated; large amount of adhesive used, easily overflowing and creating stress points.

Common in low-priced custom cabinets; edge banding peeling and cracking are frequently seen in the humid south.

PUR Edge Banding (Polyurethane Adhesive Edge Banding)

Stable Period: Over 5 years

Advantages: The adhesive cures through moisture, becoming stronger in humid conditions; temperature resistance reaches 110℃, less affected by temperature changes. 

Laser Edge Banding

Lifespan: Over 8 years, even the same lifespan as the furniture.

Principle: No glue required; laser activation of the edge banding coating achieves a "welding" effect, resulting in a seamless connection and extremely strong waterproof and moisture-proof performance.

Mostly used in imported high-end boards (such as Egger and Kelif), resulting in higher costs.
